Black and White images ! First image.
This picture was taken upstairs in the math hall looking out to the window . The focal point of this picture is the person, but the background adds to the overall look. I transformed it into black and white and made it look aged using the brush strokes tool, dark strokes. Then i added an image from google of a figure looking out the window. This added more of an eerie/aged look.

Jill, I really like the filter effect you used but...I find the construction equipment and power lines distracting. Unless that is part of the message you are trying to convey, you could have taken another angle, or you could have removed the unsightly features in the background. The person is well placed and does look very eerie. Pay attention to all the small details.
